As you may know from previous Tunesday posts, I love covers and remixes of songs and Baby Bash – Suga Suga is a popular choice for remixes. Unfortunately not all covers or remixes are better than the original or as good as the original. Sometimes they are bad or downright terrible.
Baby Bash – Suga Suga was remixed in 2015 by Robin Schulz (as Sugar) and to be honest I hate the remix. It does the original injustice. It lacks the smoothness and appeal of the original Suga Suga. Baby Bash’s version intends to seduce the listener and the now popular remix just does not do it. The guitar on the original is like a cherry on a sundae, without it the song is just not the same. Sorry Robin, but Baby Bash has my vote.
Are you a non-Belieber? Do you like Sorry by Justin Bieber? Don’t be afraid to publicly admit it, as liking this song doesn’t make you a Belieber. I’ve never been one, and I love this song. From the catchy tune to the amazing music video. Can we all agree than choosing to not feature Justin in this video was a stellar idea. I’m not being mean, these women are mesmerising and let’s be honest, nobody would have noticed Justin. Just press play and see for yourself.
Mariah Carey recently announced that she will be touring South Africa next year in April. I’m still considering whether or not I should attend. For us folk in small cities such as The Bay, concert tickets for international artists are the cheap part. If you want to see your favourite international artist you have to take leave, travel to the nearest city (normally Cape Town), get accommodation, meals and all those extras. So seeing your favourite artist could end up costing a few thousand.
I love Mariah, but I am still living in hope that Britney Spears will tour South Africa in the near future, so I will decide in January or February (if there are tickets left) if I will go.
In October Lionel Richie announced that he will be touring South Africa, and boy was I excited when he said that The Bay will be included. My mother was so excited for it. I planned on surprising her and my father with tickets as Christmas presents. Unfortunately last week, he cancelled his PE concert in place of another one in Johannesburg. The cancellation was very hushed, but I speculate ticket sales weren’t up to par with the rest of the country. It’s all very sad, but if that is the case, then from a business point of view it’s understandable.
Anyway, this Tunesday is about Christmas songs, and unless you’ve been living in a cave, you’ll know that Mariah has one of the best Christmas CDs ever created. The festive season officially starts when stores start playing it (and Boney M of course). Also I have the need to clarify that my song choice is not a hint to anyone in specific, I just really like All I want for Christmas is You by Mariah Carey
Last week’s Tuesday was rather sad, so I thought I would pick things ups with Jingle Bell Rock, sung by the Plastics in the hit movie, Mean Girls. This post is a day, mainly because I wasn’t able to complete it over the weekend and yesterday I first worked on the post that is planned for later today. I was so tired I ended up snoozing before I could finish it. I guess we all know that feeling this time of year and can do with a laugh and upbeat music.
